EMB 76.8kWh Energy Storage System Empowers German Supermarket: Dual Breakthroughs in Cost and Safety

2025-11-03

Case Study: Energy Optimization for a German Supermarket Chain
The Challenge

A German supermarket chain was plagued by high electricity costs and frequent operational interruptions due to significant peak-valley electricity price differences and sudden grid failures.

The Solution

In early 2024, EMB customized a 76.8kWh lithium battery energy storage solution for it, addressing the energy predicament.

The system focuses on two core functions: "peak-valley arbitrage" and "emergency backup power". It charges during off-peak hours and discharges during peak hours, with a charge-discharge efficiency exceeding 92%. In case of grid blackouts, it switches to off-grid power supply within 50 milliseconds to ensure critical loads.

Key Results and Impact

Since its commissioning in March 2024, the system has delivered remarkable results. By October, it had saved over 63,000 euros in electricity bills, with an investment payback period of less than 5 years. When a typhoon caused a regional power outage in July, the system provided continuous power for 4 hours, avoiding 8,000 euros in losses.

Client Recognition & Future Outlook

The supermarket manager highly recognized the system, calling it a "safety barrier", and plans to promote this solution to 12 branches across Germany in 2025. EMB will continue to leverage technological innovation to empower enterprises in energy optimization and safety assurance.
